Happy Birthday - 2008

I know that it is a little late, but here is a photo taken at my birthday celebration in August.  It's fun to have grandkids living nearby.  My how time flies when you are having fun.  Dad-Granddad

Busy time in Grand Forks

Here are some photos (I hope) of some of the things that are making life in GF very full and interesting.  Robert's visit was all too short.  Bryn and Rand's graduation from high school was a meaningful time.  My new job is taking some getting used to - getting up at 3:00 a.m. is a little much for an old guy.  Fortunately, that schedule only occurs on alternate Saturdays.

Grandad and a Rose

This photo was taken on Valentine's Day when Win found a rose while snowblowing the sidewalk.

Is it Spring yet ?

I'll try again to send some "real cool" photos from North Dakota - home of the Frozen Chosen.  The photo of me and the rose has an interesting background.  It  was Valentine's day and the roads were still being cleared from the overnight storm.  As I cleared the sidewalks with the snowblower, I noticed a single long stemed red rose lying on the berm near the street.  I retrieved it and pretended that I had walked to the florist (in the minus 40 degree windchill weather) to have something for my sweetie.  She saw through the ruse and we had a good laugh over it.  As the rose warmed up and defrosted, it literally fell apart.

Wonderful fragrance

With the smell of an almost completed loaf of home made bread wafting through the house, I am trying to find some way to capture that aroma and include a little of it to all of you.  If it doesn't work, I guess that you will need to obtain your own bread maker.  ( I have abundant recipes for same)

It snowed here last night - up to 4 inches with drifts up to a foot or so.  Last night's Bible study at church was canceled.  There were at least 200 event cancelations in the area due to the storm.  I'll try to send a photo of some of the snowblowing effort when I download the chip.

We just turned off the radio that was broadcasting the UND women's basketball game from Augustana.  The gals won 83-75.  Alys had 11 points.  They will travel most of the night to their next game in Eastern Minnesota on Saturday.

GreatMom is undoing the loaf of bread, so I'll need to go test it out for quality control.
